Out of a Far Country

Dr. Christopher Yuan, Dr. Leon and Angela Yuan
November 03, 2019

#Hebrews 12:1-2; Jeremiah 29:11; Galatians 2:20# Dr. Christopher Yuan, along with his parents Leon and Angela, shares a powerful testimony about sin, redemption, and the transformative power of God's grace. Leon and Angela recount their initial disappointment and fear upon learning of Christopher's homosexuality and subsequent drug use, and how it led them to Christ. Angela's persistent prayers, specifically for Christopher's salvation and for God to remove negative influences from his life, were answered in unexpected ways, including his arrest on drug charges. Christopher details his journey through homosexuality, drug dealing, and eventual imprisonment, during which he encountered God through a Gideon Bible. He emphasizes that his identity is not defined by his sexuality but by his relationship with Jesus Christ, and that holiness, not heterosexuality, is the ultimate goal. Christopher advocates for parents, grandparents, and great-grandparents to actively engage in teaching their children and grandchildren about biblical sexuality, countering the pervasive non-Christian worldview. Finally, Christopher encourages believers to run the Christian race with endurance, laying aside sin, and fixing their eyes on Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith.
